Facing Our Problems

Dipping back into an old favorite this week by M. Scott Peck (a psychiatrist who eventually found his way to Jesus), I found a couple of gold nuggets that motivate me to face my problems with courage rather than run from them. Facing my problems honestly is vital to my recovery because “… the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

You might want to consider what I found in relation to your own life:

“We attempt to defend our consciousness, our awareness, against reality… All of us employ such defenses, thereby limiting our awareness.  If in our laziness and fear of suffering we massively defend our awareness, then it will come to pass that our understanding of the world will bear little or no relation to reality.”

“Problems do not go away. They must be worked through or else they remain, forever a barrier to the growth and development of spirit.”
